ATAc's social subject is the management of the public transportation service for passengers and goods: in order to achieve its purpose the company may adopt any kind of industrial, commercial and financial solution.
ATAC S.p.A. is the biggest local transport service operator in Italy. With its 559 millions of euros of revenues, 8.797 employees and a fleet of 2.674 vehicles reaches the length of the urban surface network with a 114 million kilometers run every year.
ATAC S.p.A. delivers a service network composed by 274 bus lines, serving a total length of 2.980 kilometers. The company has to its disposal 2.281 vehicles. It is also the owner of 130 M1 vehicles dedicated to disabled people added to 130 vehicles of the same category supplied by the administration.
The new vehicles are almost completely diesel powered, with the exception of electric minibuses, Mercedes Sprinters, Iveco 490 ibrid powered (electrical power and diesel). In addition, in year 2006 around 100 methane powered buses have been introduced in the fleet. The tram park is composed by 166 vehicles. 52 electric minibuses have been introduced: they run mostly in the centre area of the City. Their utilization has allowed the company to obtain a more environmental-friendly type of management.
